Watercolored Feather Card - Fusion Challenge

I know, I know... I'm running a wee bit late for my posting today... I wasn't feeling well yesterday and am consequently late on my timing.

I promise, though, that this card will be worth the wait!

My design is inspired by the STUNNING inspiration image over at Fusion Card Challenge this week.

Just look at that beauty! For those of you who haven't played along at Fusion, here's how it works: You can choose to play with either the sketch OR the inspiration image OR mash 'em together and use both.

I got out some old sheet music I keep stashed in my craft hoard erm... I mean stash and used the masks from the STAMPlorations Feathers and Arrows LARGE stencil and mask set. (Which you can score for 20% off using my discount code STAMPGIRLBECCA).

I laid the mask securely on the sheet music and added some watercolors around the edge, to mimic the inspiration image.

I tore the sheet music out and glued it on a piece of black cardstock, adding some washi tape to the background. Then I used the Dots All Over stencil and applied some metallic black texture paste.

Taaadaaaaa! Artsy textural goodness! I rounded out my design with some words from Tim Holtz sticker set and added a handwritten sentiment using a white gel pen.

I used watercolors because I wanted to link up to the Mixed Media World - Watercolors and Mixed Media challenge.

Thank you for popping by! I hope you'll go check out the rest of the lovely designs at the Fusion Card Challenge

Rainy Day Card - Card Concept Challenge

I don't know about you, but this neck of the woods has seen a strong drizzle and cloudy skies over the last week. What's a girl to do other than to hole up in her crafty room in pure happiness? :)

Luckily, The Card Concept gave me the perfect way to channel my inner creative superstar into a card that could brighten up any rainy day!

The new challenge has this fantastic inspiration image:

I adore the mix of bright colors and patterns. I decided to pull out my Rain or Shine stamp set from Verve and paper pieced a polka-dotty umbrella.

I created a background using a combo of Distress Inks and Distress Oxides.

For more on how to create this background you can see my technique tutorial on Distress Ink Double Dipping.

I added some fun colors pulled from the inspiration image, and used a the Mojo Monday sketch:

to create my sunny rainy day card.

Thanks for popping by my blog. I hope you pop over to The Card Concept where our brand new designers are being welcomed in their first challenge!

On a second note, I'm up at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog with a whole tutorial on how to make this watercolored simple and chic design!

I made this card because of some awesome inspiration from the City Crafter Challenge. I cased this monochrome beauty designed by the oh-so-talented Marina

I'd love for you to pop over to CLC to check out my tutorial and let me know what you think!

Glitter, Gelatos & Butterflies - Oh My!

Friday! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited for the weekend. I'm volunteering at our first Art & Wine walk of the season (a downtown crawl with 20 locations where you get to visit with artists and drink wine at every location!) And next month, I'm going to be one of the featured artists in the walk!!! EEee!! We also have a live music festival going on this weekend, too. So yep - pretty hoppin'.

But you didn't come here to hear me blather, you came here to see some card-making action! I'm happy to acquiesce because today is the day I also remind you to go play along at STAMPlorations theme & sketch challenge

I went for the theme this time around (because you can choose either theme OR sketch OR combine them - and also win fun prizes - and you can you ANY kind/brand of stamp you want).

I began my card by scribbling some Faber Castell Gelatos in concentric circles on a piece of white cardstock.

I smeared the colors together using my fingers, to blend.

Next, I wanted to add a little bit of texture, so I broke out the Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel and applied it through the Tribal Swirls ARTplorations stencil

I also wanted to incorporate all the colors from the Color Throwdown's latest scheme, so I stamped a big ol' purple butterfly from the STAMPlorations Trendy Butterflies 2 stamp set and cut it out using the coordinating dies.

I decided I wanted to tie in my purple butterfly more, so I stamped a border using the Artsy Border Maker stamp set, and completed my look by stamping a sentiment (also from the Trendy Butterflies 2 set).

Taaadaaa - glittery, grungy, artsy and oh-so-vibrant!

I'm also going to play along in the 4 Crafty Chicks - Butterflies challenge.

Pssstt - if you want any of the products used in my card, you can use my personal discount code STAMPGIRLBECCA in the STAMPlorations shop to get 20% off your ENTIRE order. :o

Thanks for popping by! I hope you'll come play along in the STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch challenge!

Fusion - Truck Bouquet

We're over this week's hump and much closer to hippity hoppity Easter! But after Easter comes Mother's Day and that's the type of card I'm showing off today.

Now... for those of you wondering how many mothers I have - no, I was not adopted by a tribe of roving gypsy women and I did not grow up on a polygamous commune.  I sell my cards at craft fairs and mother's day cards always fly off the shelves during this time of year.

This particular card is inspired by the newest Fusion Card Challenge.

I loved the big ol' bouquet of roses, and also chose to incorporate the sketch. If you haven't played along at Fusion, it's super duper easy! You can choose either the sketch, or the card, OR both and create a fusion!

My card was pretty easy peasy to put together. I stamped a back panel using a floral burst from Unity and then stamped my focal panel once with the same design.

I watercolored my flowers with a combo of Distress Oxide inks and Distress Inks.

To complete the look, I stamped a snarky sentiment from my brand new Sweet and Sassy Mom set, which will be released by STAMPlorations in the next couple of weeks!

Taaaadaaaa!

I hope you'll hop over to Fusion and play along!

Butterfly, Love, and Card Concept

HHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapppy Wednesday! I hope you all are having a fantastic hump day so far! If not - don't worry! You've got plenty of time to change that and do something for yourself that is gonna make your attitude shift.

As for me, I'm in the mood to share another Mother's Day Card.

This little lovely was inspired by the new The Card Concept challenge, which is up on the blog TODAY! It's so springy and pretty and... well... just LOOK at it!

I incorporated the color scheme and the butterflies into my design.

My background was made using kraft paper and Distress Oxides, using the dipping technique. I added 3D stickers from Bo Bunny and a sentiment from Winnie & Walter.

Viola!

We're welcoming some brand spankin' new designers to The Card Concept team this challenge and boy are they a wealth of talent! Wowzas. Seriously - you need to go check it out and then play along with us!

Pssssst... I'm also up on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog today with a really cool tutorial on how to make this bold and graphic coffee card.

Hope you'll pop on over and check it out!
