We Wish you a Vintage Christmas

Snow is here! Snow is here! Somehow, the first snowfall of the season always brings about a magical feeling of wonderment that takes me right back to the Good Old Days of childhood. You know the ones: snowball fights, licking icicles, sledding down the hill by my grandmother's house...  By about mid-February, on the other hand, you will hear me cursing all things snow-related and ruing the day I ever stepped foot in North Dakota.

But back to the revelry! Since it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas I've been in the mood to make Christmas cards. And boy oh boy are there some great challenges out there that run to my strengths!

Craft-room challenge is running a "Vintage Christmas" theme. As I love all things vintage, I'm so excited for this challenge in particular. For Christmas last year, my mom gave me a beautiful, old complete set of Shakespeare works. Little did she remember that she'd given me the exact same set last year.  Woops! I didn't tell her and it's ok because now I have some great prints to tear up for art!

Good Ol' Billy boy has a couple of references to Christmastime in his works, one of which I tore out of Love's Labour's Lost and distressed with some Forest Moss Distress Inks.

Since The Mixed Media Challenge is also Christmas theme, with the option of bells, I pulled out my Stampin' Up Bells and Boughs set and inked a bell onto another piece of print, then colored it up with Spectrum Noir Markers.

I added some elements from a vintage Christmas paper pack and ran a strip of burlap "lace" under the Shakespeare print. Lastly, I embossed "Merry Christmas" from the same Stampin Up set using Rusty Hinge embossing powder.

This card was inspired by the sketch from Mojo Monday:

I'd also like to enter it into the Paper Players use a vintage element challenge that's running this week.
