Pinkalicious! Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #5

Pink!!! Pink everywhere!!! Glittery, lacy, matte? We don't care. Just use some PINK! If you haven't guessed by now with all of my "hints", the challenge over at Crafty Gals Corner this week is Pink... well Pinkalicious, to be specific. Because who doesn't love a made up word?

http://craftygalscornerchallenges.blogspot.com/

This week we were able to use an image called "On Cupid's Clouds" from Elisabeth Bell Digis and Key and Roses digital paper from Graciellie Designs.

For some reason, I was just in a crafty mind jam when it came to trying to put this card together. I must have colored the image 12 different times, stared at it unhappily (maybe because I was looking at a butt?) and finally had the notion to print it off in sepia tones. That's one thing I'm coming to like about digi stamps - you can totally change the color, resize, flip, flop, do the hokey pokey and whatever else your little heart desires with them.

I also wanted to point out the crackling paper down at the bottom. Whenever I'm playing around with embossing paste there's always that little bit that manages to get color on it. It can't go back into the jar, or it will taint the whole thing. So.... whenever this little conundrum presents itself, I've been putting a layer of Distress Inks on a piece of white paper (pink this time) and smearing the paste all over the paper. This was Wendy Vecchi's crackle embossing paste - so that's why it cracked. It's neat to have these special little bits of paper laying around. Well, actually, it's messy. But it's NICE to have those papers laying around because they add a special touch.

Here's my finished card:

So while you're in Valentine-making mode, whip up a pink one and go play at Crafty Gals Corner! We have some great prizes this week!

  22. I'm normally not a fan of pink and/or roses but this is just adorable! I think it's because you left the image "plain", kept the card from getting to fuzzyfrilly

  31. Looks like all the hokey-pokey, 12 versions and mind jam managed to transform what initially 'seemed' like chaos into lovely, awe-inspiring harmony! You're using techniques that are light years ahead of me, and I'm delightfully dazzled by every. single. one. One of these days, I'll figure out what 'crackling' paste is (cracklin' rose I've already met...tee hee). You're brilliant!
