Here's my recipe:
9 C. Chex cereal
1 tbsp vanilla
1/2 C. peanut butter
1 C. semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 C. powdered sugar
1 C. candy corn
1 C. Reese's pieces
2 C. mini pretzels
Melt peanut butter and chocolate chips in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave another 30 seconds. Add vanilla. Pour mixture over Chex cereal. Put cereal into large bag then shake with powdered sugar. Mix all of the ingredients together in a big bowl.
I know this isn't a foodie blog, but there's a reason I'm sharing. The challenge over at Simon Says Stamp's Monday blog is TREATS! I put together my favorite treat and then embellished it with a handmade tag.
Since {PIN}spirational put out this great image I was inspired to go with a Halloween-themed treat:
First, I die cut a tag using my Cricut, then I ripped one of the edges and brushed with Old Paper Distress Inks.
I crumpled the paper up and then used my ink pad to highlight the crinkles.
I brushed over the whole card with Bundled Sage to add some green and then stamped some vines in black from Close to My Heart's Harvest Memories stamp set. Lastly, I stamped a pumpkin from the same set and sponged it with Wild Honey and Vintage Photo DIs.
I put everything together in a cute treat bag, tied it with a bow, and now I have amazing crafty treat bags to share with my friends!
All of my colors were taken from ColorQ's color challenge this week:
I went to an early Halloween party this last weekend and I just HAVE to share my costume with you all! Even my Halloween costume was crafty!
It took me two hours to glue on all those eyeballs and I will NOT be attempting this EVER again. But I do have to admit that it created quite the splash at the Halloween party I attended. What do you think?
What a fun tag, Becca, you had fun making this one! Thanks for sharing your tag with us at the colourQ.
ReplyDeleteAHHH!!!! haha, LOVE the costume! Super awesome & creative. Great tag too! Can you send some of that puppy chow my way?
ReplyDeleteOh my Becca! What a fantastic tag to dress up your bag of treats! Your costume looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing! Thanks so much for joining along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeletelove your tag Becca. And your face looks incredible. I bet you were the hit of the party.
ReplyDeleteNot sure which I like best your tag or your amazing makeover (I assume you don't normally look like this, right???). Fabulous fun, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYum to the puppy chow! I had a student once who would bring in a batch for treat days sometimes -- notice those are the type of students I remember! ;) And what a perfect tag -- love all the inky distressing and stamping. Finally... your face/costume... wow, what fun!
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful and so tricky.
ReplyDeleteBest regards, Synnöve
Yummo, puppy chow is my favorite! I will be looking for it in the mail!! Your tag is great. I love how you do all the background yourself. Look for a package on Thursday and no, it does not contain candy bars...boo to you!!
ReplyDeleteWow you look amazing..that is such a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd your tag is awesome..can't wait to try that recipe!
Alright, I'm going in order:
ReplyDelete1) oh god, candy corn...I've been so good so far. I WANT CANDY.
2) LOVE the effect crumpling has on the tag! And that pumpkin is perfection.
3) This costume ROCKS. Seriously. I love googly eyes :) How the heck did you get them all off, and is your face covered in googly-eye shaped marks? lol!
I put them on using spirit gum, which one of my makeup artist friends suggested. I had to peel them off, which was more painful than I thought, but I now have a very smooth and hairfree face. And YES there were googly eye imprints all over!! I have an after that I DIDN'T share publicly. Haha. You have to use a special remover to get rid of all the residue, and then scrub, scrub, scrub. Talk about exfoliation!
DeleteYou certainly must have created a big splash, Becca! That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteHey, I don't see an email address for you. I'm back from vacation and wanted to respond to your comment on my post with autumn cards, if you even remember asking, lol! You asked about the abstract leaf pattern running down the sides. I think you mean the word "Autumn?" It is from the "Fall" stamp set by Technique Tuesday! Hugs, Darnell
Great photo tutorial and fun project! Your Halloween costume is awesome. I hope the "eyes" in your skin didn't hurt!! :)
