I always have trouble with masculine cards, so beefing up my stock of Father's Day cards has proven to be a challenge. I'm in the market for some new stamp sets geared towards the un-fairer sex, so would love to know what YOUR favorite man-friendly stamp set is.
I also always mean to play in the DCWV Stackaholic challenge and this month I'm FINALLY remembering. I have a snap ton of their paper stacks and whenever I use patterned paper they are my go-to. They have a sketch for scrapbookers, and one for cardmakers.
This is the cardmaker's sketch:
I used papers from the DCWV Mod-Retro Stack and from a Premium Paper Stack (that's what the corrugated striped paper is). I stamped a sentiment from a Penny Black Set and embossed a Tim Holtz truck with Rusty Metal embossing powder to complete the look.
I'm also going to link this up to Inkspirational Vehicles challenge, Let's Craft & Create For a Man challenge, & Simon Says Stamp Show us your Metal Challenge.

Not sure that I have a favorite masculine stamp/stamp co. I tend to use die cuts, plaids, and the more manly colors for the un-fairer sexed cards. If you're looking for ideas, head over to Patti's blog at stationary Styles; she's got a really inspired card over there today! Now. As to your card for.... Way to get a jump on Father's Day. I'm loving that plaid you've got working, and STRIPED corrugated??!! Very cool, and very he-manish. Nice vintage truck too. I like this one Miss Becca! Well done you!! Have a wonderful day sweetie pie! Bev
ReplyDeleteYou surely did great with this fabulous masculine one, Becca!!! Love that sweet vintage truck and the wonderful corrugated paper!!! Well done!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!!

Manly man card Becca. Love the navy stripe, it really pops that texture. I have decided the men in my life just need to get on board with flowers! LOL! I tend to go towards nature- reeds, water fowl, golfing, fish, woods, beachy. Stampin Up has most of my favorite man stamps. My Dad and Hubs I can get away with flowers every now and then. I have more men in my family than women...thank goodness for the crafty friends.
ReplyDeleteFab! Never to early, it's very organised. I really love your design. Creative Blessings, Tracy x
ReplyDeleteLove the texture This is a lovely male card TFS Let's Craft and Create Lis
ReplyDeleteI don't know...you seem to be doing great with the masculine products you do have. But I know what you mean...masculine is always a trial for me and I don't mean my husband. Fortunately, you've risen above it and produced one heck of a male wonder here.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with a Vintage automobile and your design really looks amazing with it! :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love the texture on here!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Bec - awesome take on the sketch. That corrugated paper is perfect as is the effect you got from the rusty metal powder. Can't go past an old truck for any man 'cause they have all had them some time in their life.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great manly card, Becca! Love it! I, too, struggle with masculine cards, but my favorite go-to manly stamp sets are by Stampin' Up -- Guy Greetings and Traveler. They both have a great vintage vibe with a sketchy, hand-drawn feel. Thanks for the amazing inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery masculine card, Becca. Very classic, perfect for Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteFabulous masculine card!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous card for the "un-fairer sex," as you so cleverly said! I really like how you created a background element with the flourishes and textured paper. I think you nailed the masculine theme while still keeping this classy! As for your question about some good manly supplies, I think Tim Holtz stuff usually has that masculine vibe and I've also really been liking Seth Apter's products lately. But one thing's for sure-- you have the skills to make fabulous macho stuff regardless of what you pick! Thank you for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHow did this marvelous manly man card sneak past me! Totally perfect for the un-fairer sex; the papers, the jalopy, the colours. I struggle with guy cards...sighh! So glad I spotted this handsome gem in the INK gallery...and I'm thrilled you joined us!
