Winter Shaker Card - Crafty Gals Corner - Any Holiday



Quite frequently as a card-making artist I will find myself collecting random things that I think I will be able to slap on a card at some point in time. Many of these items later find their way to a trash can after I've attempted something that doesn't work, but it is the rare few instances of sheer genius that make me keep collecting all over again. I'm not a hoarder. Really. :) 

I have been eating these yummy oatmeals in the morning that have clear plastic see through lids and decided to try putting them to use on my card for the latest Crafty Gals Corner  challenge which is:

Any Holiday

So I crossed my fingers and gave it a shot! 


That adorable little image is Arielle Ice Skater Oopsie Snowman from Faery Ink and that, my friends, is what she looks like all colored up inside an oatmeal lid. I added some snowflakes and some glittery white flocking to make "snow". 


I added some snowflakes and sequins to the outside and a big ol' Let it Snow sentiment along with some pink baker's twine. I dub this card one of the most adorable I've ever made and I didn't have to spend a million dollars on the premade shaker circles either!

    Just Like Pamellia I too love shaker cards and specially with a scene in them ! You my friend have given the lid a purpose ,loved it and the snow is fab !

    A friend at work once said that a squirrel shouldn't clean their own drey and then proceeded to clear my stock room out while I was off sick! I'm NOT a hoarder - honest. ;)

    Brilliant. Just plain brilliant! Reduce, reuse, recycle...brilliant. Love the oatmeal cover for your shaker card. (which brand? cuz after this, they're going to have a run on that brand of oatmeal, lol) Sweet little image and great dp too. Love this card! Bev

    WOW! great way to reuse that lid. love that! i often keep stuff like that, but then never do anything with it and finally throw it out. lol!!! your shaker couldn't be any cuter! loooooooooooove it!!!

    That is absolutely super duper fabulous!!! What a wonderful up-cycler you are! And she is such a cuuuuute wee girl tucked away in her glass coffin.....oooops! I mean bubble, BUBBLE!!!! Snow White would look pretty cool in there, eh? Dribble. Talking dribble. Woke up early...so decided to see what was going on in the bloggy world!!! BTW ....white space....you think I use it OK? I am chuffed! As it's always been my 'bane'.....so I'm glad it seems I'm getting the hang of it. I find it sooo hard to leave an empty bit on a card or page!!!

    This is so cute!! I LOVE how you used the oatmeal top on this to make a shaker card. (I said that in another post too. My poor computer died and went to the hospital for two weeks so I am catching up on all my favorite blogs this week.) You did a fabulous job with this challenge.
