First of all, I feel the need to proudly brag for one moment. I have defeated the Blogger. That's right, I can't tell you how many times I've attempted to schedule a post for a later date, only to be thwarted by Blogger's irksomeness. Ok, ok, more like thwarted by my own technological ineptitude... but today! Today! I have defeated the Blogger by using the magical weapon of olde - the Google. Apparently you have to set a schedule time AND THEN also click "Publish". ahhhhh* Lightbulb moment! So fingers crossed that this posts at the right time and I'm not just hyping myself for no reason (that'd be the Embarrasing).
Anywho... I suppose I should actually post something about what I'm supposed to be posting, right? I have come harkening to the Internets with good news and glad tidings: There is another sketch challenge going on over at STAMPlorations!
Here it is:
I love the sketches over at STAMPlorations. They're always so versatile and great for putting your own spin on the sketch - which is what I happened to do.
I got these fabulously textured little embellishments from Michael's during their after-Christmas bonanza and have been waiting for the perfect idea to bust them out.
They're chevron printed, round, and have buttons. I know right? The absolute PERFECT embellishment, it my book.
As you can see, I flipped the sketch. I created the background panel by using the STAMPlorations Sentiment Builders: Celebrate. I paired my embellies with a cool turquoise and vibrant crimson. I think it gives it a little southwest flair, no?
It is pretty much the perfect non-sex... no not right... nondescript.... na.... what the h is the word?! The Google wins again - unisex! Thank you. It is pretty much the perfect unisex card because it can be used for a boy or a girl. And it's just plain fun!
Come play along with me at STAMPlorations and check out our fabulously talented Guest Designer - Carol Dunham of CMDesign. You can use any kind of stamp you want - bonus! And you can win prizes - double bonus!
Winner
prize: 3 digi stamps
guest designer spot in Sketch #31
2 Top picks
the option to be a guest designer in the Sketch #31 Challenge if they'll use a STAMPlorations digi stamp (to be provided to them)
or clear stamp (if they already have them)
I'm also sending my card over to the following challenges:
Seize the Birthday ATG with option of heart or arrows
Addicted to Stamps and More - Anything Goes
Design Team Showcase - Anything for a DT
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just as an aside - I have two sweet things I have to share with you:
Look at these adorable Valentines I made for my coworkers:
I made the tag using STAMPlorations Sugar Rush set.
The glass jars are actually from the dollar bin at Target!
Who would have thunk the $1 bin was so classy?
The second thing I have to share is a little bit of a brag, too...
And pretty much the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me:
Thanks for stopping by, my friends! Leave me a comment or follow my blog and I will certainly try to return the favor! I hope you all had wonderful V-days (and if so, you should tell me all about them!)
A wonderful embellishment and a cute, cute and pretty card! Love the way you used the embellishment on this. VERY nice!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a perfect Valentine's Day too! Fantastic!

ReplyDeleteYour boyfriend sounds like a keeper to me! Mind you who am I to judge as my old man has only ever sent 1 Valentine, but then again is an old softie, just not into Valentines as he says why just have one day what about the other 364?
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the sketch, and well done getting the post scheduled, I had a few mishaps in the beginning.
If you alter your post after your scheduled, don't forget to re publish or it doesn't work. I know cos it happened to me on more than one occasion! :)

Gotta start by saying, how romantic! He's definitely a keeper! Those little treats for your coworkers are adorable, and that embellie is perfect, but mostly because of how you coordinated it with your beautiful design!
ReplyDeleteCrafty girl! I'm still crushing on those mini treat jars. I never see them at the Targets around here. Super sweet boyfriend; it was really sweet and thoughtful of him to grab one of your grandma's V-day card. Love your card -- the colors and the vintage/retro feel draw me!

That was really romantic and you deserve it
ReplyDeleteThat is such a GORGEOUS thing for your Boyfriend to do! Lucky girl you are:) And OOOPS! I could've TOLD you that re: blogger....never mind, you worked it out, so more power to you!!! ReplyDeleteBECCA *waving wildly* My sweet friend, mega apologies for having fallen several posts behind in commenting *hanging head in shame*! I have, however, gazed at, admired and oohed and ahhed over each and every card as they appear in my Feedly! Again, your creative, innovative, thinking-out-side-the-box creations dazzle and delight! I'm going to stand myself in the corner for a bit, then hopefully, get my act together to stay on top of your creations (blaming my tardiness on new work duties, travel, more travel, more work and overall scatteredness, as I try to adjust to life with a piece missing...). Thank you for understanding and for being such an AMAZING friend! Your card here showcases your knack for working magic with STAMPlorations products! So pretty! And your 'date' with your guy (he bought you an outfit...oh myyyyyy) complete with a card made by your Grandma is heart-warming and touching, magical and romantic. He's definitely a keeper. WOW!
ReplyDeleteHugs~c
Wow your man is a keeper, how romantic ! and he went to so much effort, so lovely and thoughtful. I guess I am working from the bottom up, lovely valentines you made for your co workers ( we don't tend to do much for Valentines day, we went out to dinner at our local Italian restaurant , nothing to fancy) Your card looks fabulous, the colours look wonderful
ReplyDeleteMary
Oh and I haven't worked out how to schedule posts either, but will need to shortly as we are going to be away for 5 weeks, so I better have a practice soon
ReplyDeleteMary
WOW!! I LOVE your card that you made. The background is fabulous and that embellishment from Michael's is just perfect. I also think that your Valentine gifts are adorable. So creative. I didn't see these bottles but would have snatched them up to make little gifts if I had!! And your flowers from your boyfriend are stunning. Such a nice surprise for you. He sounds so thoughtful, finding an old valentine from your grandmother. He is a keeper!!
ReplyDeleteHI Becca, lol when I first started blogging I made the same mistake as you in trying to schedule...I think blogger sets us its own challenges! Your card is gorgeous, love the papers and the rosette. What a lucky girl you were at Valentines, yes definitely a keeper! After being married for a good long time, I still get a lovely bouquet, we don't tend to go out for a meal, but if it's weekend we have a nice day out and Tom always cooks....as for finding the old Valentine from your Grandmother, I think that is such a beautiful thought, sending hugs Carole Z X
ReplyDeleteYes that "Publish" button gets me every time!! I Like the medallion on your card Becca!

ReplyDeleteBecca I love the antique look on your card
ReplyDeletethe color really antique and that flower you made really caught my eyes
FUNTASTIC made Becca
love your creativity and great idea
hugs, Monika
You've so got a keeper there :) That is the most precious Valentine celebration, Becca! I've been married (for too long) and my hubby has never been a mushy heart guy, but he outdid himself this year. He planned a day with the kids, and then proudly asked our oldest to tell me what was in the works - a motorcycle trade show, burgers, and the Spongebob movie. Yeah. All my least favourite things. And then two days after, said that my present was that I didn't have to go with them. Talk about setting a person up with low expectations, lol!
ReplyDeleteAnd YAY for google-fu! You rock :) So does that awesome unisex southwesterny card!
Love the colors, layers, and shaped rosette.
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering Design Team Showcase.
