I hate to tell you this folks, but wedding season is almost upon us! It's that magical time of year when you are forced to sit through 3 hours of droning love speeches from people you marginally know, all because your father would be very disappointed in you if you missed your second-cousin-thrice-removed's special day.
Ahem... woops... sorry about that. I let my real thoughts out there for a minute. What I meant to type is. Wedding season is upon us! It's that magical time of year when you get to celebrate life-long happiness, roll in flowers, and sing kumbaya with your family and close friends! Hooray!!
It's the announcement of a new STAMPlorations sketch and it's a pretty good one. At first I was a little bit stumped, but then I pulled out the lover dover silhouettes from Vignette: Ever After and had a lightbulb moment!
Here's the sketch I was following:
It's not my typical layout style (lots and lots of layers) so I stared at it for a good while... until the circles started taking magical shapes and I realized I was ruining my only pair of good eyes.
But then I just started stamping and I love the way my finished card turned out!
I would just like to mention, DON'T try to copy this card unless you want to spend an hour cursing out tiny little seed pearls that keep flipping onto their fronts instead of their backs in the glue. :D
Anywho - you should all play along with this one! Head on over to STAMPlorations!
There's lots of cool prizes to be won!
And we've got some AMAZINGLY talented guest designers working with us this month:
I'm also linking this card up to support the following awesome challenges:

ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!! Love the pearls on here too. Very elegant card!
ReplyDeleteLynn
The seed pearls may have tried your patience but the card is drop dead gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Becca, and so elegant in black and white. Your time and patience with the pearls was well worth it, my friend! It's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Really awesome take on the sketch Becca!! Love the pearls!! ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Becca! Love it! The pearls are so pretty so I'd say the effort was definitely worth it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Becca!! All of the trouble you had with the pearls was worth it, they look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the silhouette images!! Outlining them in pearls was a fabulous idea...worth the work it took to glue the down ;) Beautiful card!! Have a great day :)

ReplyDeleteReally a cool card, Becca-the pearls are the perfect touch.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Becca, I love the images and elegant design. A really great use of the sketch.

Super gorgeous and elegant card, Becca! Those pearls really make this card -- kept visualizing your card without them and spending a bit of time gluing the pearls was so worth it!
ReplyDeleteBecca, Love your black and white card and the pearls are perfect!!
ReplyDeleteOr...you could have an ultra simple wedding like mine: married at 10:00am in one of the pretty garden rooms in Edmonton's Muttart Conservatory, with only immediate family present (my brother was my maid-of-honour..seriously!), then brunch at my sister's. In evening, my husband and I took over my brother's house and made supper for everyone. Small, intimate...no fanfare whatsoever *whew*!! My dress - teal blue - super cheap! Anyway, your card is gorgeous; labour of love with those pearls! As for your post...are you a professional writer because my stars, girl...you're brilliant! Gift for words, gifts for visuals...
ReplyDeleteHugs~c
That sounds like my kind of wedding! I'm not sure "professional" would describe me ever. ;) But I love to write and spent 3 years editing a magazine for a profession. Now, I just do it for fun and am so grateful for the bloggy world that gives me such a great creative outlet!
DeleteEditing for a magazine; now that would be a fabulous job! I used to be a full-time (for many years!) high school English teacher, and the years of marking, marking and marking took their toll. Or rather, putting grades on students' assignments is what did it! If only we could let them write and not put on a mark, I think creativity and risk-taking would soar. But that's just me. Right now, I'm .25 teacher/.75 admin assistant at the Outreach school in town. Work stays at work, because I treasure, value and NEED my at-home crafting outlet! Your writing is truly engaging, polished, sophisticated and down-right awesome...and given that I'm a teacher, I know of what I speak *grin*
DeleteWhat an elegant take on that sketch! I was thinking those pearls would be difficult, but you did a great job with them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence -- we have similar feelings about (most) weddings, and we both buy half-pearls that love the back stroke! Your card is perfect in black and white!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! Love your delicate design and the elegant pearls!
ReplyDeletewhat an elegant card!! love the white and black!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with us at Sentimental Sundays!
Beautifully done Becca
ReplyDeleteOh YES! Totally got it down with this one. And those pearl circles were WELL worth the effort. They look soooo....brid-ish!!! I've just done my coffee card....not linked yet. Trying to find a day to post without DT stuff is 'challenging', sooo not enough days in the week!!! But, man! There are some fabulous cards being created!!!! Right.....almost bed time here:)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I would like to say that it took me several minutes to recover from the fit of laughter after reading your bit about weddings! My word, everyone is thinking the same thing...I cringe when I see the fancy envelope in the mail box!! HAHA! Anyway, lovely card Becca, I adore the black and white theme and the pearl frames are very elegant! see you again soon, hugs :)
ReplyDeleteBecca - love your witty comments and style of writing! I always enjoy my visits to your blog both for your fun writing and your fabulous eye candy!!! I am IN LOVE with this card - love the pearl lined circles - just such a stunning card!! Enjoy your day knowing you have a huge fan in Utah!!!
ReplyDeleteOh those pearls...yikes that took time and patience...BRAVO. That being said, the effect of the pearl frames..totally worth it.
ReplyDeletethis is soooo pretty!!! LOVE LOVE the gorgeous card with the pearls on it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this card because it is black and white with pearls-very elegant. I have used pearls before and it can be frustrating to say the least. That is one of the reasons bad words were invented. I love your rant because it is so true. usually half the people who talk don't seem to make sense and the father usually mumbles and drifts off on some other tangent. My hubby and I used to place bets on how long it would take before Twist and Shout was played "rock and Roll( soothe the soul). We also made bets on how long the marriage would last. (I won the last one-6 months)
ReplyDeleteBecca this is elegant
ReplyDeleteblack and white and Pearl lovely combo my dear friend

Becca, this is just beautiful, I had to laugh at your pearl comments, because YES that looks like a very challenging project. I can't say I'd want to deal with that many seeds flipping over on me!
